National Youth Survey 2007 revealed shocking lukewarm attitude of Chinese youths towards politics.
In a recent survey, a worrisome 41% of Chinese youths covered showed ignorance of the MPs of their constituencies. In a stark contrast, 70% of Malay youths surveyed are aware of their MPs.
This should serve as a wake-up call to Malaysian Chinese!
Voicing out our political footing has to be matched with creating political awareness among the younger groups. The survey results are thought-provoking in that they tell us there is worrying imbalance presently, which may be damaging to Chinese in long run if not rectified.
It is time our political leaders put in a serious thought to correct the imbalance.
