The arrest of Taiwan's former president Chen Shui-bian on money laundering and graft charges has been televised worldwide, making it headline news everywhere.Chen's remand is especially vibrating in Malaysia where concern over corruptions is heightening. This is obvious for one reason that we have been doing dismally in CPI (Corruption Perceptions Index) over the past 6 years or so.
Locally corruptions are a burning issue. Their devasting impact has detrimentally slowed the progress of the nation.
As we watched the televised remand of Chen Shui-bian with both of his hands handcuffed, we couldn't help to lay back to wish for a Malaysian dream.
When would our system be transparent enough to send the currupted jaws to remand?
Steven Spielberg told it all when he directed the blockbuster "Jaws" in 1975. We really need immense commitment and courage to nab the big jaws.
