Flooding in Sibu is a recurrent issue and it looks like it is going to be an unending nightmare!During the 12th GE, it emerged to be one of the hottest election issues being propagated by the candidates from both sides.
Consequent upon the election, the government proposed a flood mitigation project involving building dams. The 400-million project was not well favoured by Sibuians who were of the opinion that dredging would be more workable.
In the midst of debates and loud public outcry, the issue died down for no known cause. But Sibuians are generally very concerned about the progress of the mitigation plan.
The nightmarish floods continue to loom large in Sibuians' minds. They humbly hope that a workable plan is forthcoming without further showmanship.

Yes, no more showmanship or sweet talk. This is only July, supposedly one of the hottest months. Why we have flood again?
rubberseeds, there was heavy downpour last night. If Kapit continues with the torrential rain, then in the coming days, Sibu is going to be more seriously affected.
i thought it was ok yesterday not the worst we had but when it rained non stop last night i got really worried. i hope the worst is over. i blogged over it but i have no access to the blog sd-min so my posts take some time to b posted sometimes days :) by which time it is stale, very stale

I wondering what will happen to Sibu when Bakun dam completed & they release the water to the river & at the same time raining heavily in upper Rejang.
