Stephen Tong's Evangelistic Rally In Sibu (唐崇栄萬人佈道會) - Part 20

Rev. Dr. Stephen Tong arrived here today for his evangelistic rally scheduled from 17th to 19th of May at Sibu Town Square. The target for the rally is at 10,000 people per night. Please pray hard for it.
Part of the programme of this mission-bound trip to Sibu is to give an open theological lecture at The Masland Methodist Church this afternoon at 2:00pm for a duration of two hours.
Themed "The Investments of Satan and The Collapse of Christians", the open lecture gathered approximately 2,000 church members to partake of the exposition.
At 70, Rev. Dr. Stephen Tong does not quite look his age. I last saw him in 1996 when he came to Sibu to preach at a gospel rally held at Padang Sukan Tuanku Haji Bujang. Gee, he does not seem to have changed much since then.
Right at the start, Rev. Dr. tephen Tong admitted having poor health. The age apparently has worn out his sonorous voice. May God bless him with good vocal cords for the evangelistic rally.
The 90-minute lecture was a good exposition on the subject. I personally benefited from Rev. Dr. Stephen Tong's talk. From the notes that I have taken, I may share in my blog the theological lecture.
Please pray for good weather tomorrow so the rally may go on uninterrupted.

Sunday, 16 May 2010 – A Sad Day for Methodism in Sibu?

Tony, thank you for your report on Rev Stephen Tong’s theological lecture on "The Investments of Satan and the Collapse of Christians" at the Masland Methodist Church in Sibu on Sunday 16 May 2010.

On the same day, a Malaysian Insider posting referred to a Sunday Post article reporting that “Sibu churches given federal cash ahead of vote”. (Note. Borneo Post Online appears to have removed this article.)

The third piece of the puzzle is known to all of us, P212 by-election voting took place on Sunday 16 May 2010.

If you still don’t get it, try substituting some of the words in the lecture title with the Sunday Post article, “The special grants of ... and the collapse of Cx...”

Was Rev Tong led by God to lecture on this specific topic, on this specific day, in this specific church? Who was God really speaking to, through Rev Tong?

O God, help us to bloom as faithful disciples in the world around us. Amen.

I am appealing to your Sin Ang Tong Methodist church as a fellow Christian. I am gravely disappointed by the Malaysiakini article carrying your leader refuting Goh KS message pertaining to the BN grants given to the church.

Please - can't you see you are playing to the tune of BN? How could you go on to say that people would suffer if PR was elected govt? How do you justify on Christian moral grounds that accepting the $$$ and advertising to thank them in return? Doing so you were openly campaigning for them? You too speak politics.

Do you really believe the money is given in sincerity? The timing speaks volume. So $400K is all that your church cost? Mine cost the life and blood of Jesus!!! Shame on you. Your leaders are not fit to lead the church. Conscientious Christians should leave your church. Please read and meditate on PSALMS 1. Let God speaks to those who are spiritually discerned.
