Gospel Red Packets By The Masland Methodist Church

Red packets are fashionable nowadays and collectors are growing in number. With the Spring Festival creeping in, red packets are one of the most talked-about festive items.
This year, the Masland Methodist church jumped on the bandwagon to come up with gospel red packets.
Creative and meaningful, the gospel red packets are trendy in design and superb in printing, making them lovely-looking.
The uniqueness of the gospel red packets lies in the messages they carry. Instead of the traditional CNY prosperity wishes, they are printed with gospel messages.
There are several designs available, all with the theme of love.
I picked up this design with very touching messages this morning after the second service.
1 John 4:19 We love because He first loved us.
John 13:34 A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.
You may give gospel red packets to your friends as gift for CNY. It is a wonderful opportunity for you to reach out to them with Bible messages.

eh Tony...you forget...no money, no talk

Does the Bible ever mention red packets with and without money in it ?

Red packet = Bible verses = money

???

But Bible does say all christians have to reach out to their neighbours with God's words.

Festive season is an excellent occasion to share gospel message with friends.

The messages themselves are good. But the money inside will make them think something else, other than the salvation of God. It is a human nature to take the better one. A spiritual verse or money that can be seen and used ? The danger is there. The misinterpretation is there. The misunderstanding is there. The best way to help is not giving money but what they need. If they need a school bag, they receive a school bag. Not money.

I'm no expert, but in the 1st packet, shouldn't the word be "commandment"? I would think they should put quotations like: "What you do to the least of your brothers, you are doing unto Me." OR "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to Heaven."

P.S.: Don't take me seriously. Just commenting on what struck my mind the moment I saw the post. Doesn't really matter to me what people choose to put...

I do wonder.

Does that make a difference? Money put inside a red packet with a bible verse that you bought from church and money put inside a red packet given free by banks or shopping centres?

I am also disturbed.

Anonymous, you have a valid point. But we hope the messages would at least get across to some of the recipients.

Oldie but goodie, it is "command" in NIV, whereas in other versions "commandment" is used. Your points on alternative verses are noted.

Yan, the only difference lies in the messages.
